Expertise: Prior to joining the Florida Atlantic University in 2003, Xie was Visiting Assistant Professor in GIS at Temple University (2002-2003). He was intensively involved in research projects funded by NIMA, NASA, NIH et al. His research in Content Based Geographic Image Retrieval was awarded twice (the Best Student Poster Presentation, UCGIS 2001, and Honorable Mention (Certificate) at 98th AAG 2002).
# His current interests are on Geographic Image Retrieval, High Resolution Images, Spatial Temporal GIS Analysis, Environment Health, Invasive Species.
