Robert L. Fleischer is Research Professor of Geology at Union College. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Harvard. His current research is on nuclear tracks in solids and on intermetallic compounds. He has alternated between dislocation theory and plasticity of metals and intermetallic compounds on one hand and the science, properties, and uses of etched nuclear tracks in solids – uses that range over many fields. He is the author of a 1995 monograph on nuclear tracks, Tracks to Innovation(Springer-Verlag). At present he is studying radiation dosimetry, including measuring personal radon doses and neutron doses at Hiroshima.
