My current research interests are focused on energy systems; the sum of the technologies and policies that link the energy services that people demand (light, mobility, space heating/cooling etc) to the energy sources that nature provides (sun, fossil fuels, wind, biomass, etc).
As a biologist/plant physiologist, I am particularly interested in exploring how the insights and technologies from the biological sciences can inform and contribute to the transformation of Canada’s energy system into one that is more environmentally sustainable. Research projects that I am involved in tend to have a quantitative, multi-disciplinary or inter-disciplinary focus, linking the biological sciences to disciplines such as physics, computer science, engineering or policy
