Expertise: Our group is studying the structural and optical properties of nanostructured materials. In particular we are exploring the properties of complex semiconductor nanostructures for infrared light emission and detection. We are also investigating the fundamental properties of phase transformations in metallic nanoparticles.Our work involves material design, synthesis and characterization, as well as device processing and testing. We have considerable expertise with:

Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy
Synchrotron-based x-rays scattering techniques
Molecular beam epitaxy growth of III-V semiconductors
