My research focuses on the mechanism of tumor angiogenesis and its relationship with tumor microenvironment such as hypoglycemia and its effect on the progression and metastasis of cancer cells. In my previous research I found that the expression of the main angiogenic factor Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 2 (VEGFR2, KDR) in Epithelial Ovarian Cancer cells is regulated by glucose and its molecular knockdown using RNA interference (shRNA) altered the expression of some adhesion molecules. In the coming research I would like to investigate the effect of hypoglycemia on key molecular pathways in different types of cancer cells mainly breast cancer. I am interested in studying the effect of the environmental pollutants on the induction of mutagenesis and progression of different cancer types. In addition to that I am interested in the isolation and identification of novel natural compounds that have potential anticarcinogenic properties
