Her main research interests encompasses two main areas: Molecular Biology & Microbiology. Her researches focused on the identification of thermophilic bacteria capable of producing industrially important thermozymes based on 16S rDNA genes analysis and construction and characterization of metagenomic libraries derived from the enviromental DNA. Metagenomics is the culture-independent genomic analysis of microbial communities. Metagenomics library is a valuable source for the mining of microbial genomes for genes of industrial interest and novel biocatalysts. Currently she is also embarking on the study of taxonomic and phylogenetic relationships of social wasps: Stenogastrinae, Polistinae and Vespinae based on 28S, 16S and COI genes. Funding for her researches are supported by Research Intensive Faclty (RIF) and Research Acculturation Grant Scheme (RAGS) which are awarded by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE)
