My current research focus is in the development and application of statistical methods in education. This includes development of an alternative method for teacher evaluation, statistical disclosure control (SDC) methods for increased access to restricted datasets, the use of Bayesian statistical procedures within educational research, and the design and analysis of social experiments. I have also began to cultivate a research agenda centered on statistical education and the communication and consumption of statistical results. I have become increasingly interested in clearly defining the goals and objectives of statistical education in post-secondary settings and how best to achieve them. Communicating and interpreting statistical results can be extremely challenging, but can be eased though the use of high quality visualizations which spurred my interest in developing research activities centered around data visualizations. I am particularly interested in the practical skills involved in building data visualizations for big data exploration. Apart from these areas of interest, I have a general interest in many different areas of statistics and I am always looking to expand my knowledge of statistics through collaborations with other researchers and/or students.
