We offer a temporary post-doc position for up to 3-4 years within a Generalitat Valençiana (Government of the Valencian Region, Spain) funded project, led by Dr. Francisco JM Mojica at the University of Alicante, Spain. You would join a multidisciplinary team of bacterial geneticists, biochemists and microbiologists. The post-doctoral researcher will work in the detection of novel CRISPR systems through the analysis of metagenomic data from diverse natural environments, and on their biochemical, genetic and functional characterization in prokaryotes. The application of CRISPR technology in eukaryotes is not pursued in the project. The researcher will contribute to manuscript preparation and undertake the design and execution of laboratory experiments, as well as the analysis of proteins and nucleic acids bioinformatics data. The successful post-doc candidates must hold a doctoral-level degree in biology, or equivalent field with a focus on microbiology, have a strong background in molecular biology of prokaryotes and their viruses as well as a deep knowledge of bioinformatics tools. Experience in the study of native CRISPR systems will be a plus.
