Requirements

A Doctorate (NQF Level 10) in Analytical Chemistry with at least six (6) years of lecturing experience at tertiary education level and/or industry experience or an equivalent combination of relevant professional experience. Excellent English communication skills (oral and written). Proven competence in successful sourcing of research or project funding from third-party sources, successful initiation, and management of research projects, curriculum development, and strong management/organisational and mentorship skills. Competence in developing high-quality course materials and in teaching at least three of the following courses at both under- and post-graduate levels: Instrumental Techniques (Atomic/Molecular Spectroscopic, Separation and Electroanalytical Techniques, Advanced Analytical Chemistry and Chemometrics, Environmental Chemistry, and Environmental Pollution Monitoring and Remediation. Experience in management and operation of analytical laboratory instruments such as ICP-OES, GC-MS, HPLC, Mercury Analyser, FTIR, CHNS/O Elemental Analyser and Kjeldahl Nitrogen Analyser will be an added advantage. Sound research profile with peer-reviewed publications (journals articles/books/conference proceedings) and successful supervision of students.
