Research in the Daly Group is focused on understanding how to manipulate chemical bonding and structure in metal complexes to address long-standing challenges in energy science, medicine and catalysis. Our work relies heavily on the synthesis and design of new inorganic and organometallic compounds, and synthetic efforts are often complimented with state of the art synchrotron spectroscopy and radiochemistry to achieve desired objectives. Current projects include in-situ ligand K-edge XAS investigations of small molecule binding and activation, exploratory coordination chemistry and ligand design, and synthesis of molecular nanocapsules for radiopharmaceutical applications.
