My research interests are broad but can be separated into two areas. First, I am interested in how non-essential metals influence plant health on the molecular level. One question that fascinates me is how metals interact with proteins and effect their function. Using biochemical and biophysical techniques we can characterize various metal-protein binding interactions and measure protein dynamics. I am also interested in how metals influence the amplitude and period length of plant circadian rhythms. Second, I want to explore and develop methods that utilize bioluminescence outputs to measure various components of forensic samples.
