Work as part of a team, performs research, writes manuscripts, and presents their findings at local and national professional, scientific and academic conferencesAssist in writing progress reports, grant proposalsConducts literature reviews and summarizes findingsComplies with and contributes to development and implementation of experimental work plan, laboratory biosafety plan and the Chemical Hygiene Plan for a Radiochemical Lab and Biological Safety Level II facilityCollaborates effectively with a multidisciplinary team of scientists on activities and training pertaining to attainment of research objectives within and outside Alcorn State UniversityParticipates in all phases of project execution including planning, designing, coordinating, collaborators meeting, conducting literature reviews, data analysis and ensuring compliance with all legal, regulatory and protocol guidelinesProvides technical presentations and assists other lab members with experiments as required. May mentor research assistants and studentsDevelops methods and optimizes data collection and analysis using analytical methods such as HPGe detector, ITLC/Radio-TLC, NMR, FT-IR, UV-Vis, Raman Scattering, TEM, SEM, DLS/Zeta Potential, HPLC, and ICP-OESMaintains the laboratory work areas including routine maintenance on laboratory equipment as required, cleanliness, and order and organizes required research supplies and records Qualifications 
Ph.D. or ABD (all but dissertation). Experience with ICP-OES, HPLC, NMR, FT-IR, UV-Vis, Raman Scattering, TEM, SEM, DLS/Zeta potential is a plusExperience with molecular and cellular biology approaches and a strong interest in computational modeling or related disciplines appropriate to the position is a plus. Formal training in Chemistry and RadiochemistryExperience with handling radioactivity and/or fundamental understanding of ionizing radiationExpertise in synthetic chemistry and nanostructures approachesExperience with gamma counting and/or multichannel analyzers (MCA), and ITLC/Radio-TLC methods |
