The Department of Biology at Tufts University is seeking a part-time non-tenure track instructor to teach an in-person mid-level course in Cell Biology for undergraduate Biology majors (Bio 46 - Cell Biology) in Spring 2023 (Jan - mid-May). The course presents basic concepts of cellular organization, function, and regulation. Topics may include molecular/biochemical research methods used in the study of protein structure and function, gene expression and regulation, signal transduction, intracellular transport, and cell communication. Prerequisites: a semester of college biology, or permission of instructor. Enrollment is usually 60-80 students. Virtual accommodation of students who are unable to attend in person sessions due to illness may be necessary.

 

Qualifications

The preferred candidate should have attained a Ph.D. in an area related to cell structure, function, and behavior. Candidates should demonstrate experience in teaching cell biology. We require experience or invested interest in developing inclusive classroom spaces through equitable mentoring and innovative evidence-based pedagogy that promotes success and career enhancement of underrepresented students in STEM.
