The Materials Science and Engineering Research Institute (MSERI), at the American University of Sharjah in the UAE, is setting up new cutting-edge research laboratories in emerging areas of materials and structures. Areas of interest include (but are not limited to) advanced and smart materials, materials characterization and processing, surface science and technology, nanomaterials and nanophotonics, nonlinear optics, spectroscopy and microscopy of materials on macro and microscales, composites, metals and alloys. Application areas include renewable energy technologies, catalysis, water treatment, devices and electronics, healthcare, transport, design and analysis of sustainable infrastructures, and others.
The MSERI is seeking highly motivated research scientists with strong records in materials research to join the institute. The successful applicant is expected to contribute to the research activities in the MSERI and work with faculty and researchers from different disciplines and backgrounds that are relevant to materials science and engineering research. Preferred evident experience and expertise in (but not limited to ) High-Power Ultrafast Fiber-Laser Systems , nonlinear Optics and Spectroscopy, Dynamic Mechanical Analyzer, Automated Multiport Gas Sorption, High and Ultra-High Vacuum systems, Automatic Differential Scanning Calorimetery (DSC), Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Physical Property Measurement (PPMS), Pulsed Laser Deposition techniques, Atomic Layer Deposition techniques, Spin Coating and Solar Simulator Machine and others .
- Help execute ongoing research projects and establish new ones in the MSERI.
- Supervise and guide postdocs, junior researchers, and students.
- Collaborate and work with faculty and researchers from AUS colleges and research institutes.
- Produce research outcomes of significant basic and applied impact.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- A minimum of PhD degree in materials science/ engineering or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize and operate advanced techniques used in materials research.
- Strong scientific background with evident research record.
- A minimum of 6 years of work experience.
