Position description
The Department of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Postdoctoral researcher in the area of cosmic microwave background experiment.
This position will be in Adrian Lee's group in the Physics Department of UC Berkeley. The group focuses on observations of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) research specifically focused on CMB anisotropies.
The successful candidate will work to analyze science data and identify, model, simulate and mitigate important instrumental effects that limit our ability to extract cosmology results from Simons Observatory data. They will also contribute to efforts to account for these effects in automated data reduction processes.

Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application) Candidates must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree or be in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree at the time of application.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start) Candidates must have obtained their Ph.D. or equivalent international degree by the start date of the job. Candidates should have no more than three years of previous postdoctoral experience by the start date.
Preferred qualifications
- Ph.D. in Physics or Astrophysics, or related field
- Strong background in programming with the Python language
- Experience with the basics of CMB experiments and sources of systematic errors
- Experience with the broad techniques used in CMB data reduction
- Experience using distributed computing resources
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Experience with data simulation and analysis (CMB data)
- Ability to work with other postdocs, graduate students and software engineers in a large collaboration environment
