Assoc Prof Steve Yim’s team is looking for a Research Fellow in Climate Science and AI to take charge of the newly awarded grant from CCRS. Successful candidates will manage the project and have a postdoc training in a relevant field of deep learning and public health.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will help manage a funded research project on the Development of High-Resolution Heat Stress Maps to Assess Urban Heat Island (UHI) Effect and Public Heat Risk in Singapore. Key responsibilities include:

  • Investigating datasets from V3 and applying machine learning techniques for hyperlocal downscaling to assess heat stress across Singapore.

  • Coordinating with project collaborators, including academic and government stakeholders, to ensure seamless research progress.

  • Organizing and leading workshops to disseminate findings and engage with relevant communities.

  • Communicating effectively with funding agencies, preparing progress reports, and ensuring compliance with funding requirements.

  • Leading manuscript drafting and publication efforts to contribute to high-impact journals.

  • Supporting related research initiatives within Assoc Prof Steve Yim's research team, contributing to broader projects in climate and environmental health.

 

Job Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. degree in atmospheric science/geography/meteorology/environment

  • Strong data analysis skills

  • Experience in development of spatial models especially land-use regression model

  • Experience in machine learning for climate applications

  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.
