The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), part of the College of Science, was established in 2002 with a mission to advance biological and biomedical sciences. At SBS, our research spans various areas, including infectious diseases, immunology, neurodegenerative diseases, telomere biology, and genome function. Over the years, SBS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

Join the Protein Production Platform (PPP) at the School of Biological Sciences, where we leverage cutting-edge technology and workflows similar to those pioneered by the former Biotechnology unit at the Structural Genomics Consortium, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. Our mission is to provide efficient protein production solutions that encompass project design, high-throughput cloning, small-scale expression testing, and large-scale protein expression. We utilize mainly bacterial and mammalian expression hosts.

Job Description:
  • The candidate will work together with the PPP team and be in charge of one of the following major aspects:

    • purifying recombinant proteins from liter-scale Escherichia coli cultures

    • maintaining eukaryotic cultures for transfection/infection and subsequent purification

    • cloning and small-scale expression tests

  • Independently conduct routine experiments with meticulous documentation, ensuring accuracy and reliability of results.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment, including FPLC systems, and manage consumables to ensure uninterrupted workflow.

  • Deliver presentations on experimental findings and actively participate in project discussions and lab meetings to contribute insights and foster knowledge sharing.

  • Engage with PPP users, facilitating material exchange and providing clear explanations of data to ensure effective collaboration and user satisfaction.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Chemical Biology/Engineering or related fields.

  • Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques such as pipetting, media preparation, and buffer preparation.

  • Preferred experience and working knowledge in molecular cloning, purification of recombinant proteins, structural bioinformatics, and/or basic eukaryotic cell culture techniques.

  • Ability to be process-driven, working with Standard Operating Procedures and revising them when necessary.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and interaction.

The College of Science seeks a diverse and inclusive workforce and is committed to equality of opportunity. We welcome applications from all and recruit on the basis of merit, regardless of age, race, gender, religion, marital status and family responsibilities, or disability.
