The Department of Materials Design and Innovation (MDI) at University at Buffalo (UB) has launched its next phase of growth and invites candidates to apply for the positions as Non-Tenure Track (NTT) Research Faculty.

MDI is seeking individuals with one or more following areas of expertise:
  • Strong working familiarity with high resolution electron microscopy, focused ion beam, atom probe tomography and high-resolution scanning probe microscopy and specimen preparation methods.
  • Fluency in, software design for scientific instrumentation and data workflow for autonomous materials synthesis platforms
  • Track record of working with and/or managing multi-user research instrumentation facilities and training students and users.

Successful candidates are expected to integrate well into MDI’s innovative teaching and research program. The successful candidate will be expected to be engaged in laboratory and computational training courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, overseeing the training of students and other users on laboratory and computational facilities in the department. The NTT faculty line also provide an opportunity for research collaboration with faculty and the development of scholarly activities.

MDI offers BS, MS and PhD degrees in materials science and engineering as well as an accelerated BS-Chemistry/MS-MDI degree in partnership with the Chemistry Department at UB. The University at Buffalo is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer (AA/EOE).
