Position overview Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. The current base salary range for this position is $71,500 to $107,600. "Off-scale" salaries, which yield compensation that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

Position duration: The initial appointment is for 1 year with a possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funding.

Position description
This position is in the Conboy lab, within the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences at the University of California Berkeley. The Conboy lab studies aging, specifically the molecular signals that circulate in blood and affect tissue stem and progenitor cells throughout the various organs.
This position would be a molecular biologist at the core but spans from the organism and tissue samples through molecular analysis to -omics bioinformatical study and interpretation.
Responsibilities:
- To conduct biomedical and bioengineering research, direct the work of a small team of undergraduate researchers and technicians, and aid in the skill development of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers.
- To develop collaborations within the Conboy lab and to support our collaborations with other groups at UC and beyond, including our clinical collaborations.

Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
- Doctorate degree or equivalent international degree.
Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
- A minimum of 5 years of research experience.
Preferred qualifications
- PhD and/or MD in biomedical science: molecular, cell biology, biochemistry, or equivalent PhD thesis or postdoc experience.
- Published skills in stem cell biology, -omics, or aging.
- Published expertise in non-canonical amino-acid tagging or metabolic proteome labeling, small animal surgery, ChipSeq, and RNASeq.
- Familiarity with molecular aging studies and/or aging disease models is a plus.
