Research Assistant (Master’s thesis) position in mechanical testing of organogels
A Research Assistant position to work on a Master’s thesis in mechanical testing of organogels is available at the group of Molecular Materials, Department of Applied Physics (School of Science) at Aalto University.
Our research focuses on developing materials with novel functionalities, designed from the molecular level.
Your role and goals
We are seeking for a Master’s student to work with us on the synthesis and characterization of an organogels. This project will involve radical polymerization and mechanical testing of the materials. The goal is to measure the mechanical properties of the organogels using universal tensile tester.

Your experience and ambitions- Suitable experiences in related fields, e.g. basic knowledge in chemical synthesis and material characterization techniques, experiences in a chemistry lab etc.
- Excellent study record
- Good English & team working skills
Students from the chemistry or material sciences background will have priority in the evaluation process, even better if you have worked with polymers. Applicants with a strong motivation to learn new things will also be considered, even if from a different background.
What we offer
We offer a highly interdisciplinary working environment, with challenging and interesting topics related to hydrogel, biomimetic materials, etc. You will also join the exceptional scientific environment of Academy of Finland Center of Excellence LIBER.
The employment contract will be fixed-term and made for 6 months. Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities. The salary for a master’s thesis worker is approximately
2250 € per month (gross). The contract includes Aalto University occupational healthcare.
