The Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) and its Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) and CTSA-linked K Mentored Career Development Award represent a large NIH infrastructure grant to support clinical and translational research at the University at Buffalo (UB) and the Buffalo Translational Consortium (BTC) partner institutions under the leadership of the Director of the CTSI.

The CTSI Data Steward has overall responsibility for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of large and complex database reports, dashboards, and interactive end user portals at the University at Buffalo - Institute for Healthcare Informatics for end user data consumption at the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), which is a broad-based institute with a mission to support clinical and translational research at University at Buffalo and partner institutions. This position is responsible for defining and delivering research IT strategy and developing research IT infrastructure capabilities collaboratively. The position will report to the CTSI Chief Research Information Officer (CRIO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO). The position requires independent judgment and initiative, under the general direction of the CTSI CRIO, and collaborating with other senior leaders in the CTSI and Buffalo Translational Consortium (BTC).

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Creation of data extracts, data ingestion and reports for researchers working at the University at Buffalo
  • Responsible for triage, prioritization and assignment of requests driving them to closure in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Simplify large complex data requests and present graphical dashboards and reports for researchers.
  • Assist with data GAP analysis and assessment and solution
  • Design of complex data models to support healthcare clinical problem solutions
  • Consistently observes safety and security procedures. Reports potentially unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel
  • Clinical data analysis using tools to solve complex solutions (R, Python etc)
  • Create and maintain consistent documentation for end user consumption.
  • Professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in services and workshops, and independent education activities.
  • In collaboration with partner organizations, establish metrics for managing research IT effectiveness and for measuring the impact of IT on research enterprise objectives.
