			The incumbent monitors progress of research projects and coordinates information between department sections. He/she assists with and conducts laboratory experiments on research projects within well-defined guidelines.

Develops protocols and guidelines for the application of portable diagnosis tools for onsite pest identificationConducts laboratory and applied research in collaboration with Extension that addresses state and local needsMaintains the materials generated by the projectAssists with the collection of data, evaluation, and reportsAssists with grant writing, and budgeting, and provides input in the development of educational programsPrepares extension outreach materials like fact sheets, trifolds, brochures, etc. for disseminating information to the limited resources farmersMentors graduate/undergraduate students, lab technicians, and student workersVisits and travels to state events, as needed    Minimum EducationBachelor’s degree in Plant Science, Molecular Biology, Plant Pathology, or a closely related field. Priority given to MS degree holders with laboratory experience on molecular tools
   Minimum ExperienceHands-on experience in basic molecular techniques and fundamentals of plant pathology
