We are looking for 2 Research Fellows (RFs)/Post-docs to participate in an exciting multi-disciplinary research program related to fundamental discoveries of protein-based biomaterials as inspiration for sustainable and "eco-friendly" materials.
Candidates should have strong expertise in: (1) Next-generation (RNA) sequencing, bioinformatics and proteomic analyses; and (2) Protein NMR, structural biology and biophysics, as well as protein engineering. One RF will be conducting in-depth next-generation sequencing and transcriptomic analyses of protein-based biopolymeric fibers produced by living organisms. The candidate should have strong expertise in RNA-seq, transcriptomics, and bioinformatics. He/she should also have skills with modern proteomic methods such as MS/MS. The second RF should have excellent skills and knowledge in structural biology methods, especially protein NMR, Circular Dichroism (CD), and Infrared Spectroscopy. Experience in electron microscopy methods of biological samples (such as cryoEM) would be an advantage.
Both RFs will be closely working together within a dynamic interdisciplinary research group devoted to biological and bioinspired materials, comprising materials scientists, molecular biologists, chemists, and biophysicists, which all collaborate in a strongly interacting matter.
a. PhDs in structural biology, genomics, bioinformatic, or bioengineering.
