Assistant Teaching Professor-Lab Coordinator
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Florida International University invites applications for two non-tenure track, 12-month positions as Assistant Teaching Professors with laboratory coordination responsibilities. Successful candidates will be expected to develop content and supervise teaching laboratories associated with all undergraduate chemistry and biochemistry courses. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in Chemistry or an allied field and be able to provide an enriching learning experience using cutting-edge methods. Laboratory coordination includes optimizing student learning through ongoing coordination with corresponding lecture course content, as well as maintenance of instrumentation, training of teaching assistants, and hiring adjunct instructors, including identifying candidates for adjunct instructors and other secondary teaching personnel. Teaching laboratory courses may also be necessary on an ad hoc basis.
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is dedicated to ensuring a diverse, inclusive, and scholarly environment. The candidate is expected to have departmental administration and committee duties as a full-time teaching faculty and is expected to have a full-time presence on campus.
