    Salary range: The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. The current base salary range for this position is $53,100-$68,300. "Off-scale" salaries, which yield compensation that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

    Position duration: The initial appointment is for 1 year with a possibility of renewal based on performance and availability of funding.

    Position description

    This Junior/Assistant Specialist position is for the Clark Lab in the California Institute for Quantitative Biosciences at the University of California. The Clark Lab develops microfluidic and molecular methods for the high throughput analysis of single cells. We use these techniques to study HIV latency in CD4 T cells and profile cellular interactions during central nervous system inflammation.

    The successful candidate will assist PhD and postdoc researchers with wet lab experiments including the generation of Illumina sequencing libraries, single-cell RNA-seq experiments, and routine laboratory operations.

    Responsibilities:



    • Perform tissue culture, iPSC differentiation, and single-cell sequencing.

    • Assist in routine laboratory maintenance and ordering,

    Qualifications
    Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
    Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) or enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program (or equivalent international degree)

    Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
    Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree) by the appointmnet start date.

    Preferred qualifications
    Experience with scRNA-seq, Illumina sequencing, and cell culture
