    Position description

    The Department of Neuroscience at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for an Associate or Full Specialist in the Feinberg Lab, in the area of Neuroscience MR-Imaging. The goal of the project supporting this position is to disseminate the Next Generation (NexGen) 7T MRI scanner, currently the most powerful human brain scanner in the world, as a resource for the neuroscience research community and to facilitate neuroimaging at the scale of neuronal circuitry, cortical layers and columns.

    This position will be responsible for managing the progress of the projects undertaken as part of this initiative, keeping track of scanner use, scanner QA/maintenance, data collection, IRB management, and other required logistics (e.g. website management, meeting planning and taking meeting minutes). The Associate/Full Specialist will also work with the research coordinator and project scientists to ensure proper recruitment and screening of participants. The position will collaborate with academic and industrial partners and will also have opportunities to prepare results for publications, and present at conferences.

    In addition, general duties include:
    -Manage QA and coordinate maintenance of the scanner and scanner peripherals
    -Manage maintenance of lab SOPs and scan protocols
    -IRB study compliance, modifications and renewals
    -Data collection and storage management
    -Data analysis

    Additional duties include:
    -Preparation and submission of manuscripts as co-author with the PI
    -Preparation and submission of grants
    -Assist with purchasing decisions and execution
    -Lab website management
    -Attend weekly lab meetings and give regular presentation at these meetings
    -Assist with meeting planning and taking of minutes

    Qualifications
    Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
    Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international degree)

    Additional qualifications (required at time of start)
    Master's degree (or equivalent international degree) OR Bachelor's degree (or equivalent international) degree plus 5 years of experience

    Preferred qualifications
    Work experience in a field related to the research work.
    Demonstrated experience in MRI project management
    Demonstrated experience in IRB study management
    PhD Degree (or equivalent international degree) in the area of Neuroscience, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or a related field
    A track record of peer-reviewed publications and talks at conferences
    Demonstrated experience in high-field MRI (e.g., sequence programming, image reconstruction, or RF coil engineering, etc.)
    Demonstrated experience in high-resolution functional and structural MRI and related data analysis
    Demonstrated programming skills in C, C++, Python and MATLAB
    Ability to communicate research to public and potential partners
