    Position Description:


    The Department of Medical Education at the University of Illinois College of Medicine is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to enhance our artificial intelligence and data science in education initiatives.


    We seek a Postdoctoral Research Associate who can integrate artificial intelligence and data science techniques to health professions education, delivering a unique and 61 cutting-edge contribution to improve training. Relevant areas of focus include, but are not limited to, the application of AI and data science to assessment, teaching, equity, and ethics in health professions education.


    The salary for this full-time position is based on NIH postdoctoral guidelines available at www.niaid.nih.gov/grants-contracts/salary-cap-stipends; the budgeted salary range for this position is $61,000 to $74,100.     The Postdoctoral Research Associate will engage in mentored research, gaining experience in building artificial intelligence applications and data science methodologies for health professions education; preparing manuscripts and grants; and contributing to curriculum and evaluation in the College of Medicine. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will also have access to the university’s expansive opportunities to join other AI and data science research projects and publish papers. Postdoctoral Research Associates are expected to teach one course per year, develop an active research program, and participate in a mentoring program.

    The Department of Medical Education (DME) at the University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine is the oldest continuously operating department of medical education in the world, with a strong commitment to scholarship and leadership in the field. The department is highly interdisciplinary. Faculty come from diverse disciplinary backgrounds that include, sociology, statistics, cognitive psychology, neuroscience, philosophy, ethics, and the health humanities. The work of DME faculty involves instruction, curriculum design, research, and service in the fields of health professions education, health humanities, and healthcare ethics. Its core educational contributions include training PhD, MHPE (Master of Health Professions Education), MPSL (Master of Patient Safety Leadership) and MD students.

    QUALIFICATIONS:



    • A doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, MD, or relevant terminal degree) is required and must be obtained by the starting date of the position.


    Preferred qualifications include



    • Experience with AI model development

    • Experience with health professions or health professions education data

    • Experience with teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level

    • Familiarity with applying AI methods to improve health equity or assessing the impact of AI on health equity
