Assistant Professor in Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry of the College of Sciences at the University of Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor commencing Fall 2025-2026 (Sep. 2025).
The selected candidate will pursue a systematic program of research and scholarship, curricular improvement, and participation in service activities, including committee service, student advising, and building industry relationships.
The candidate should have a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry, and a Ph.D. in one of the following Chemistry disciplines (Analytical, Organic, Biochemistry, Phycical, or Inorganic) from an accredited high-ranked/top 200 institution, with an outstanding academic and research performance records.
EXPECTATIONS
1. Teach a range of core specialized chemistry courses related to the candidate’s especiality for undergraduate and graduate students.
2. Teach various General Chemistry courses for chemistry, health sciences, and medical-foundation undergraduate students.
3. Supervise senior undergraduate and graduate chemistry students in their graduation projects and Thesis.
4. Actively engage in research and community service. 5. Evaluate students' learning using various methods of assessment.
6. Advise students on academic matters.
7. Actively participate in departmental assignments and student activities as the Department Chair or College Dean assigns.
8. Serve on Department, College, and University committees as appointed or elected.
Skills :
1. Fluency in English at the general and professional levels is essential.
2. Excellent professional writing skills (research proposals, scientific reports, etc.) and presentation skills.
3. Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office applications and softwares in his field).
4. Strong interpersonal skills that can produce effective professor-student interactions.
5. Experience using learning management systems in education, e.g., Blackboard, etc.
6. Behavioral competencies include adaptability, decisiveness, initiative, perseverance, organizational skills, stress management, and valuing profession and diversity.
Qualifications :
1. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in one of Chemistry specialties from an accredited high-ranked/top 200 institution.
2. Minimum of 2 years experience of teaching in the field at the University level.
3. Experience in teaching chemistry courses related to the candidat’s especiality.
4. Evidence of active contributions to his/her field through publishing in internationally recognized and peer-reviewed journals and participating in conferences, seminars, and other forums in related to his/her chemistry expertise.
5. Has experience in credit hour system.
