    Position description

The Space Science Laboratory at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applicants for a Postdoctoral Research position working on simulation, modeling, and systematics mitigation for the Advanced Simons Observatory (ASO). ASO builds upon the telescopes deployed for the Simons Observatory and seeks to refine and automate instrument characterization, data processing, and public data releases. The successful candidate will work to identify, model, and simulate important instrumental effects that limit our ability to extract cosmology results from Simons Observatory data. They will also contribute to efforts to account for these effects in automated data reduction processes. This position requires working with Julian Borrill, Reijo Keskitalo, Ted Kisner, and other personnel at U.C. Berkeley and within the larger ASO collaboration.

Job Responsibilities in this position are:

-Will identify, in coordination with the broader collaboration, any systemic effects which impede science processing of Simons Observatory data.
-Will implement software to simulate these effects and compare with real data.
-Will assist in algorithm and software development aimed at mitigation of these -effects.
-Will assist in automating simulation and reduction operations for regular data releases.
