  • Contract Faculty Position in Biology in the Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering

    The Department of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for a full-time, non-tenured, renewable faculty position in Molecular Biology and Genetics, at the level of Industry Assistant Professor, with a start date of September 1, 2024.


     Job description


    An Industry Professor’s primary roles are teaching, mentoring, and educational innovation, and the position may also entail administrative work, advising, and outreach. We invite applicants for an Industry Professor position whose main duties include teaching lecture courses in biology, with a specific emphasis on genetics and molecular biology. The typical teaching load for Industry Professors is three lecture courses per semester.


    Qualifications


    We invite applicants for classroom teaching in all areas of biology with particular emphasis on molecular biology and genetics. You should be an excellent teacher. A Ph.D. in Biology or a closely related discipline is required and a record of industrial experience and/or teaching in these areas is preferred.  Applications by candidates who have recently completed a Ph.D. or postdoc, with a minimum of 1-year of experience after the Ph.D. and who have a strong interest in teaching are encouraged to apply.

    Additional Information


    In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary (for 9-month) range for this position is $80,000-$120,000.  New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
