Lieutenant Colonel Lundell’s research primarily focuses on creating energetic organometallic and inorganic complexes. The research effort includes four undergraduate cadets in collaboration with Dr. Michael Zdilla at Temple University. The group’s focus is to develop new environmentally safe burn rates additives for double base propellants. The lab group utilizes air-free techniques to develop metal complexes and then grow crystals though various methods. Once formed, crystals are characterized using single crystal x-ray diffractometry, NMR spectroscopy and combustion analysis.
