My research mission is to develop novel synthetic methodologies to provide unique access to bioactive small molecule agents and ultimately address the increasing needs in biomedical research, particularly cancer research. I am especially interested in invention of next generation synthetic methodologies, which display improved efficiencies and are atom economical. My approach to these challenges is to develop novel transition metal catalysis enabling carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bonds formation from simple alkyne hydration. I plan to use these methods to prepare natural products, pharmaceutical agents and their analogs, and then study their biological activities.
