We are interested in how the nervous system responds to the environment and generates animal behavior. These traits are determined by the structural and functional properties of neural circuits—networks of neurons that act together to process information and produce appropriate physiological and behavioral responses. Our goal is to understand how the features of individual neurons in a circuit give rise to the properties of circuits, and how circuits are organized, activated, and modified under different conditions.
