I am interested in sensory processing and plasticity in motor networks and the influence of this plasticity on behavior. The main focus of my work is to determine how small neuronal networks cope with complex and multimodal sensory input and how motor pattern selection is achieved in multifunctional circuits. I use the stomatogastric nervous system of the crab with its well-characterized central pattern generators for my studies. In particular, I focus on neuromodulatory projection neurons that participate in motor pattern selection.
