Expertise: The major focus of my research is to develop better therapies for Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), without the limitations involved in islet/pancreas transplantation. Our ongoing work seeks to document the underlying mechanisms of insulin-independent glycemic regulation following BAT transplants, customize the approach for translation to clinical settings, and to explore the benefits of this approach for type 2 diabetes and other metabolic disorders.
