Research in the Stuart Group primarily focuses on the development of new reagents and new chemical reactivity for organic synthesis. An emphasis is placed on the use of transition metal complexes and small organic molecules as catalytic entities within these transformations. The reagents and the reactivity developed in our group is envisioned to contribute to the advancement of a broad range of research areas and industries, including pharmaceuticals/medicinal chemistry (trifluoromethylation and heterocycle synthesis), medical imaging (carbon isotope labelling), and sustainable energy sources (C-H bond oxidation). Our new reagents and reactivity will be validated through their use in the synthesis of complex targets
