    Globally ranked among top research and technology organizations in the environment and water domain, the NTU’s Nanyang Environment and Water Research Institute (NEWRI) ecosystem interacts across a multi- and inter- disciplinary platform of Research-Engineering-Deployment (R.E.D) activities in its approach to developing innovative solutions.


    A Research Assistant position is currently available in NEWRI to participate in an academic research project on tire wear particles.


     


    Key Responsibilities:




    • Support research work on water sample analysis using various bioassays and perform routine laboratory techniques – (buffer preparation, water sample processing, reagent preparation, reporter assays, nucleic acid analyses etc.)




    • Conduct mammalian assays and zebrafish embryonic assays




    • Clearly document the experimental work performed and sample information




    • Assist in reporting data for the work done




    • Support laboratory procurement, inventory, maintenance, and housekeeping




    • Assist in daily operational, administrative, and logistics duties related to the research activities.




     


    Job Requirements:




    • Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Environmental Biotechnology or other related life science disciplines.




    • Minimally 2 years of working experience in a research environment




    • Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture




    • Hands-on experience in cell-based assays in microplate formats and with absorbance/fluorescence read-out (eg. Reporter cell assays)




    • Knowledge and hands-on experience in conventional molecular assays (eg. nucleic acid extraction and analyses, ELISA, RT-qPCR)




    • Knowledge and experience on common analytical instruments (eg. fluorescence microscopes, real-time PCR, multi-mode readers, cell analyzer)




    • Experience in zebrafish assays or other in vivo assays is highly preferred




    • Experience in library preparation is preferred




    • Meticulous, proactive, organized & able to work independently according to plans




    • Good communication skills & team player
