    • Develop and update course materials to reflect current industrial trends in genomics and AI/ML, ensuring courses are skill-based and accessible to students.
    • Employ innovative teaching methodologies, including online and hybrid learning models, to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Student Research Mentorship & Advising:
    • Provide research and career advising to students as a faculty advisor, guiding them on coursework, research projects, and career opportunities in genomics and AI/ML.
    • Supervise undergraduate and master's level research projects, both individual and group, especially senior capstone research projects and master’s special problems courses. Support students’ development of practical skills in genomics.
    • Develop a thematic and sustainable research portfolio that would facilitate the research experience of undergraduate and Master students and that would be supported by foundations, industry, and government.
  • Service & Community Engagement:
    • Contribute to departmental activities, such as student recruitment, skill-based curriculum planning, and program assessment.
    • Participate, as a thought leader, in university and community outreach to promote genomics and AI/ML, engaging with industry partners and other stakeholders.
    • Serve on departmental or university committees as needed, contributing to the governance and strategic direction of the institution.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Education:
    • Advanced degree (Ph.D. degree preferred, M.S. level considered) in Genomics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field, with a strong research background in AI/ML.
  • Experience & Skills:
    • Demonstrated teaching experience at the university level, with a commitment to high-quality, student-centered and skilled-based instruction.
    • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB) and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive academic environment.
    • Industrial and leadership experience in the biopharma and biomedical research sectors, with insights into the practical applications of genomics and AI/ML in the industry.
  • Desirable:
    • Interest in conducting research with students, helping them gain hands-on experience and contributing to practical applications in genomics and AI/ML.
    • Experience in leveraging modern computational methods such as multi-omic analysis, AlphaFold, and other advanced bioinformatics tools.
    • Interest in writing educational research grants to enhance genomics education and secure funding for program initiatives.
    • Experience in curriculum development and a proven track record of using innovative teaching techniques.
    • Engagement with professional organizations or initiatives related to bioinformatics, AI/ML, or data science education.
